On August 11th this year's final concert of our Summer Academy Opus XXI took place at the Seestudio inside the concert-hall of the Bregenzer Festspiele. At the beginning of the concert this year's Ensemble in Residence L'Instant Donné and the vocalist Donatienne Michel-Dansac performed "La Nuit en Tête", a composition by the greek composer Georges Aperghis. The ensemble-piece "transience" by the Academy-participant Mioko Yokoyama (Jp) was being perfomed as second piece. Mioko Yokoyama had composed "transience" for this year's Academy and the performance in Bregenz was the premiere. Afterwards, Martin Grütters "Siebenkreiswerk" was conducted by Simon Edelmann, a student of Ulrich Windfuhr's conductor's class at the HfMT Hamburg. In the second part of the concert the French conductor Aurélien Azan Zielinki conducted two premieres: "where the light never reaches" by Zesses Seglias and "so oder so und so weiter" by Bertrand Plé. Both pieces were commissions of Opus XXI, with Ple´s composition being a partner-commission by the two Ulysses-network-partners, Opus XXI and Ensemble Divertimento (It). The finale of the concert was the perfomance of Miroslav Srnka's piece "Les Adieux". Srnka, who was our Composer in Residence at this year's Academy had already been a participant in 2004. The preparations for our next Summer Academy Opus XXI 2017 are already in full swing! So this year's Academy will take place from August 2nd to 12th at the Musikhochschule Trossingen (Baden-Württemberg), who is also a partner of Opus XXI.
As Composer in Residence Miroslav Srnka (Foto: Vojtěch Havlík) will be present, whose opera "South Pole" has been premiered in January 2016 at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. Srnka will take part in the Academy and also support the participants in the rehearsals of his piece "Les Adieux". As a conductor Aurelien Azan Zielinski will be present, the renowned French ensemble L’instant donné will be our Ensemble in Residence and work with the musicians.
Amongst the pieces, that will be rehearsed are Srnka's "Les Adieux", Martin Grütter's "Siebenkreiswerk" and two pieces that have been commissioned. One is the piece "So oder so und so weiter" by the French composer Bertrand Plé, which has been commissioned together with our partner in the Ulysses-network Ensemble Divertimento and with the support of the Ulysses-network. The other composition is the piece "where the light never reaches" by the Greek composer Zesses Seglias. Both pieces will be premiered at the final concert.
Besides the artistic directors, also Donatienne Michel-Dansac (Foto: Jean Radel) will be present at this year's Academy and act as vocal coach. She will also perform the piece "La nuit en
tête" von Georges Aperghis together with L'Instant Donné at the final concert.
The final concert takes place on August 11th during the Bregenzer Festspiele. Tickets can be bought here.
On April 19th a concert with participants of last year's Opus XXI took place in the Musik- und Kongresshalle Lübeck. The concert was hosted by the OFAJ / deutsch-französische Jugendwerk as a part of their annual meeting. The successful performance not only gave the young musicians the opportunity to once more perform the program they had been working on at Opus XXI in the previous year, but also made it possible for the audience to get a musical insight into the work of our Summeracademy.
The fruitful and long standing collaboration of Opus XXI and the OFAJ manifested itself in this felicitous performance, that also highly appealed to the audience.
A group of musicians and vocalists who have taken part in the Summeracademy 2016 of Opus XXI at Spetzgart perform together again during a concert in Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein (DE), on April 19th 2017, where they present a selection of works they have been working on the previous summer.

Émilie Girard-Charest cello, Justine Eckhaut piano, Daisy Dugardin clarinette, Marie Perbost soprano, Hector Docx piano, Ken-Wassim Ubukata cello, Johanna Hetzler viola, Maria Gvozdetskaya violin, Alice Szymanski flute.
